Client Spotlight - Leslie Lambert

Meet NXTLVL client, Leslie Lambert. Leslie is a client of NXTLVL with Trainer, Alan Dyck. Leslie has recently lost 20lbs through hard work. Nutrition and training plans, plus in-person personal training sessions have help Leslie realize her goals. Check out a bit of her history, below!
Q: Tell me how you first got involved with fitness?
A: I worked at the local pool as a lifeguard and swimming instructor for high level kids, so my job required me to stay fit.
Q: Why did you seek out a personal trainer?
A: I first began working out with a trainer after going through a health scare and wanted to improve my health and fitness.
Q: What was your first impression of NXTLVL?
A: I met Alan for the first time over coffee. Immediately his passion for nutrition and fitness was apparent to me. It was also apparent that not only did he teach nutrition and fitness but he followed these same values in his personal life as well.
Q: What was your first memory of going to the gym?
A: The first time I went to a gym I did not find it to be enjoyable. The large crowds and often intimidating bodybuilder types made it hard for me to feel comfortable.
Q:What has surprised you the most about working with Alan as a Coach?
A: How he is actually always right! And the results I’ve seen!
Q: What do you find the most challenging about personal training?
A: The hardest challenge so far has been sticking to the nutrition plan Alan has made for me, however the results have certainly been worth it.
Q: What’s the best/worst thing to happen since you started working out?
A: The best thing has been the results. I’ve noticed significant improvements in strength and muscle tone. The worst thing would have to be not getting to eat all my sweets and treats.
Q: If you could change one thing about your journey thus far, what would it be?
A: It would have to be my ability to train consistently, I work away for about 6 months during the summer and without being able to train at NXTLVL my training tends to slip.
Q: What do you wish other people knew about you?
A: That I have two sons.
Q: Why are you with NLP as opposed to another facility in town?
A: I like the one-on-one training situation, and the flexibility with training times depending on the week. Also not having to wait for a machine to be free is a definite positive.
Q: Tell me about some of the people you’ve met while training at NXTLVL?
A: I haven’t met many people as I’m often in and quickly out after my training session is over. However everyone seems friendly.
Q: What would you say are some of your strongest beliefs about fitness?
A I really believe in the 80-20 rule. I think it’s really important to live a healthy lifestyle but also be able to enjoy certain foods on occasion.
Q: What is your personal fitness philosophy?
A: This relates to the previous question in that I believe it’s important to train hard, and maintain a healthy diet however balance is just as important.
Q: When your friends/family find out that you work with a trainer, what do they say or ask?
A: They often ask how much it costs, and then they ask what it’s like to train in a private gym.
Q: What might someone be surprised to know about you?
A: They may be surprised that I’m able to be quite motivated to eat clean, however I struggle with getting to the gym by myself.
Q: What would you tell someone who is thinking about getting a coach?
A: I would tell them that it is definitely worth it, being able to have a coach has allowed me to be pushed much farther than I would have been able to on my own.
Q: What do you think will change about your fitness destination over the next five years?
A: I hope training outside of coaching sessions will become less of a struggle.
Q: If you weren’t working out, what would you be doing instead, or what would your life be like?
A: I would certainly not be in the same physical shape as I am today, and I wouldn’t have as much knowledge surrounding nutrition.
Q: How would your coach at NXTLVL describe you?
A: I’m a hard worker and am extremely goal orientated.
Q: Tell us the most surprising thing about you, fitness related or not?
A: I used to be a competitive barrel racer.
