When entering a bodybuilding competition, you will be required to present a fixed set of poses based on the category in which you enter. It’s a paramount component in preparing for a competition; through the process of training and dieting down for a show, you may be the front-runner of the group, but if you do not know how to present your full package to best showcase yourself, placement can be compromised. It’s often thought that stage presence and ensuring that you don’t appear as if you are a “rookie” (even if you are!) weigh heavily into the judge’s score cards.
A posing coach is ideal both for the first time competitor, as well as the seasoned athlete. Getting sincere, professional and qualified feedback from Nationally qualified athletes, whom have stage experience can be the difference between showing, and winning. Any athlete wanting to develop stage presence, learn comfort and exude confidence would benefit from one-on-one posing instruction. The entire goal of posing practice and coaching is to hear first hand your strengths and weaknesses in presentation in a positive fashion, and train to become better in how you present all of your hard work.
Nicole Lozinski is a Canadian National Figure Competitor, having hit the national stage in 2015. Nicole’s fitness journey began in 2011, deciding that she wanted to enter into the Sandra Wickham Competition as a “bucket list” item, thus connecting with Personal Trainer, Alan Dyck, to begin her education and training process; she had no idea where this was going to take her! At her first competition, she placed 4th in the Masters category, and so began her trajectory to Nationals. From there, she placed 4th in the Masters category, and 3rd in the Open category at the BC Provincials. Through her dedicated training, nutrition and mental strength, she moved onto the National stage in 2015, placing 6th in the Masters category.
After a whirlwind of competitions, Nicole’s reflection on this sport helped her to understand that the motivation to participate is very personal; be it a passion, hobby, challenge, or to try and make it as a pro. She’s discovered through this process the importance of acknowledging each point on this journey, and recognizing the physical, mental and spiritual changes which take place.
Nicole’s philosophy in coaching is all about listening to her clients, and tailoring her comments into positive feedback which can be adapted into pointed, tangible changes and directions on stage. Nicole’s ability to adapt to client’s needs, and respond based on first-hand stage experience is what makes her a trusted and balanced coach, working for your goals as hard as you are. Her first hand stage experience makes her a secret weapon for others who want to hit the stage with every edge and asset available.
